On June 29th 2023, Worcester Police officers assigned to the Neighborhood Response Team were on patrol in the area of Castle Park. At about 4:50 PM, they observed a male sitting and counting what appeared to be several small, individually wrapped bags. As officers approached the male, they developed probable cause that the bags contained illegal drugs. The male, identified as Eli Cirino-Carrasquillo, twenty-seven-years-old of Southbridge, got up and ran toward Alden Street when he saw the officers.
Officers followed the male, who ran to Piedmont Street, where he stopped and attempted to throw the bags down a sewer drain. Mr. Cirino-Carrasquilo jumped a fence and went into the rear of a property on Piedmont St. Officers caught up with Mr. Cirino-Carrasquillo on Piedmont St, and took him into custody. They re-traced their steps and discovered fifteen bags of what appeared to be crack cocaine and fentanyl. Mr. Cirino-Carrasquilo is charged with Possession of a Class A Substance with intent to Distribute (Fentanyl), Possession of a Class B Substance with intent to Distribute (crack cocaine), Trespass, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace.
