All billing addresses for excise tax bills originate with the Registry of Motor Vehicles. You may change the billing address of an excise tax bill with the City of Worcester only after it has been issued. The address change will be made to all your outstanding excise bills. To ensure your address is correct on a bill before it is issued, it must be supplied to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Please note: changing your address with the City of Worcester WILL NOT change your address with the Registry of Motor Vehicles. You must contact the Registry of Motor Vehicles also.
Anyone wishing to change their billing address can simply fill out the required information on the Change Mailing Address form. In order for any address change to take effect, ALL owners of said property must agree and sign the form.
The Assessor's Office will receive the information regarding the ownership change from the Registry of Deeds within 4-6 weeks of the recording date. Your bill will be sent to the mailing address listed on the deed (Please note: this is not necessarily the property address - it is the new owner's mailing address listed on the deed.). The owner of record as of the previous January 1 will be the "Assessed Owner" on the tax bill. New owners will be sent an in care of tax bill. If you do not get a tax bill in time for a quarterly tax payment due date (February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 1), you may request a remittance form by email. If you would like to update your address sooner or supply a different address than shown on the deed you may do so by filling out the required information on the Change Mailing Address form.
If you would like a copy of a tax bill to be automatically sent to a third party (i.e. a relative or a mortgage company), you may request one by calling the Treasurer's Office at 508-799-1075
