At approximately 5AM on Thursday, July 16, a water main break was discovered on Chandler Street by the intersection of Wellington Street. The water main has been shut down and the exact source of the issue is being investigated. The water main on Chandler Street from Wellington Street to King Street is be expected to be shut down for most of the day.
Outside of the shutdown area, rusty water can be expected throughout the downtown area, Main South and Green Island. If you do observe rusty water, delay washing laundry and do not use your hot water until the cold water runs clear.
The roadway in the area of Chandler Street near Wellington Street has been heavily damaged. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
