The City of Worcester Department of Public Works & Parks will close the outlet valve and replace the flash boards at the Indian Lake spillway during the week of March 2, 2020. This will allow the lake to begin refilling, thereby ending the winter drawdown. The water level will be allowed to rise over the next two weeks or until it reaches pre-drawdown levels.
Winter drawdowns have proven to be an effective way to control the growth of aquatic weeds along the shoreline and in shallow parts of City lakes and ponds. The drawdown was coordinated with the Indian Lake Watershed Association and approved by the Worcester Conservation Commission.
