For Immediate Release: 8/29/2019 1:10 pm
At approximately 11:30 a.m. today, a water main break occurred on Northeast Cutoff near Clark Street. The break on the 16- inch diameter main that was installed in 1965 has been isolated and is in the process of being repaired.
Motorists are advised to avoid this area to help ease traffic congestion and allow the repair crew to work safely and quickly.
The break may cause no water, rusty water, or cloudy water conditions to customers. We advise you to check your cold water taps for discoloration from rust. If you do experience rusty water, delay washing laundry and do not use your hot water taps until the cold water runs clear. The water remains safe to use.
The City of Worcester repairs breaks as quickly as possible and remains mindful of water conservation efforts.
Updates will be posted on the DPW&P Facebook https://www.facebook.com/WorcesterDPW and Twitter https://www.twitter.com/WorcesterDPW pages as they are needed and become available. Residents who continue to have rusty water should call our Customer Service Center at 508-929-1300. The reports will be used to flush the lines of rusty sediment as efficiently as possible.
