DPW&P Water Operations to Conduct Hydrant Flow Testing throughout City on Wednesday, August 4 and Thursday, August 5

The Department of Public Works and Parks Water Operations will be conducting hydrant flow testing throughout the City on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 and on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Flow testing is scheduled to take place at the following locations:

• West Mountain St. at Stratton Hill Park                     
• Wilkinson Street                    
• North Worcester Avenue                                           
• St. Marks Road                      
• Grove Street Terrace                                                  
• Harlow Street
• Brigham Road                                                           
• Gage Street
• Chiltern Hill Drive                                                     
• Harrington Way                     
• Hillcrest Avenue                                                        
• Locust Avenue
• Farm Street                                                                
• Loxwood Street
• Heard Street                                                               
• Narragansett Avenue
• Willow Street                                                             
• Millbury Street at Route 20
• Botany Bay Road                                                      
• Balis Avenue
• Coolidge Road

Flow testing involves flowing hydrants at a high rate for a few minutes in order to determine the condition of water mains and to find out how much water can be delivered for firefighting purposes. Flow testing may create rusty water in the neighborhoods surrounding the test locations. We advise you to check your cold water taps for discoloration from rust. If you do experience rusty water, delay washing laundry and do not use your hot water taps until the cold water runs clear.
