A Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed Harrison and Laurel Street Bridge Replacement project in Worcester, MA.
WHEN: Tuesday, May 11, 2023, at 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
PURPOSE: The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Harrison and Laurel Street Bridge Replacement project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
PROPOSAL: The proposed project consists of replacement of the Harrison and Laurel Street Bridges Superstructures over I 290. Once the project has been completed the life cycle and serviceability of both bridges will be extended and safety for all roadway users will be increased. The substructures will be rehabilitated. The completed project will make sidewalk and curb ramp improvements within the project limits. The proposed two span bridges will consist of new steel plate girders composite with an exposed concrete deck. The proposed bridges will provide an 11-foot travel lane and a 5-foot shoulder in each direction with sidewalks at both sides. Construction will be done in two stages, with eastbound lane will remain open with temporary traffic signals.
