Worcester, MA (December 17, 2015) - For the second year in a row, the City of Worcester has received the highest score possible on the Municipal Equality Index (MEI), which rates cities' and towns' inclusivity of LGBT people.
The MEI, created by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, examines the laws, policies and services of municipalities throughout the country and rates them on the basis of their inclusivity of LGBT people who live and work there.
To earn a perfect score, cities must have policies that go beyond individual state and federal protections.
The 2015 MEI rated a total of 408 cities from every state in the nation, and Worcester was one of 47 to earn a perfect score. Not only did the City maintain its score this year, but it increased its raw score from 107 to 110. The City's scorecard is attached below.
