WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester Department of Transportation and Mobility has launched a public survey to solicit feedback regarding a proposal to lower the citywide statutory speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph and establish 20 mph safety zones at sensitive locations around the city.
The City Council Traffic and Parking Committee has held five hearings on the proposal, one in each council district. Residents can still learn about the proposal and the importance of safe speeds by viewing the presentation.
As road safety affects everyone, the municipality invites residents to take an online survey to share feedback on the proposal.
“The Department of Transportation and Mobility is working extremely hard to improve the accessibility of our roads and ensure that all roadway users are safe and comfortable traveling throughout the city,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista. “This is a great opportunity for residents to share their feedback as we work to achieve Vision Zero and eliminate fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways.”
