Worcester, MA (December 23, 2016) - The Worcester Common Oval ice rink is changing its weekend hours due to popular demand.
Skaters have expressed a desire to skate under the bright lights of the Common, so Saturday and Sunday hours are being shifted one hour later to allow for more illuminated fun.
The Oval's new hours of operation on Saturdays and Sundays are 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Friday evening skating will continue to be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The Oval will also be open for daytime skating during school vacation weeks and on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. During the weeks of December 26th and February 20th, the Oval will be open from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 30th and Friday, February 24th. The Oval will be closed Christmas Day.
The City's 12,000-square-foot rink, which opened in 2012, is 4,000 square feet larger than the rink at New York City's Rockefeller Center. The Oval has piped-in music, skate rentals, concessions, holiday lights and more, making it a fun and affordable family-friendly activity. The rink is professionally managed by SMG, the DCU Center's talented management team.
The rink will be open as the weather allows. Cancelations and a schedule of events are posted on www.WorcesterCommonOval.com and at facebook.com/worcestercommonoval.
Admission for open skate is $5, and free for kids 6 and younger. Skate rentals are $3 with a credit card or $25 cash refundable deposit. The Oval is available for private group rentals, please call (508) 929-0125 for information.
