The Division of Youth Opportunities Recreation Worcester program will host the Whole Kids 2019 “Art Edition” festival on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Worcester Common.
Whole Kids is a free community and family-friendly event celebrating youth development, creativity, and self-expression. This year, the event highlights art, one of the three pillars of Recreation Worcester’s programming. The event will include take home crafts, food vendors, music, family fun and an opportunity to sign up for various summer programs.
During the event, the 2019 Service to Youth Awards will be presented for advancing the holistic well-being of youth in Worcester. This year’s recipients are:
In the event of rain, the event will be moved to the YWCA (1 Salem Street) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Recreation Worcester’s six week summer program focuses on team work, sports, arts and fun learning delivered by local youth workers and community partners. Youth are offered different options of activities to choose from guided by the Recreation Worcester staff team.
The summer program is offered at 10 sites throughout the city: Beaver Brook Park, Burncoat Playground, East Park, Grant Square, Greenwood Park, Lake Park, Logan Field, Oread Castle Park, University Park and Vernon Hill Park.
