Worcester, MA (November 17, 2014) - The Great American Smokeout is November 20th, and the Worcester-based HOPE Coalition, in partnership with the City of Worcester Division of Public Health, will be out on Worcester Common encouraging people to quit smoking.
The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout annually on the third Thursday in November. Smokers across America are encouraged to give up smoking or make a plan to quit on this day. HOPE Coalition and WDPH will be standing against big tobacco and providing cessation information in honor of the Great American Smokeout from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM on Thursday, November 20th at the Worcester Common.
HOPE Coalition (Healthy Options for Prevention and Education) is a youth-adult partnership coalition created to reduce youth violence, substance use and promote adolescent mental health in the City of Worcester. HOPE is a chapter of The 84, the Massachusetts youth movement working to fight big tobacco.
The 84 is a program of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, developed and managed in partnership with Health Resources in Action.
