For Immediate Release: 8/16/2018 11:56 am
The City of Worcester Department of Public Works & Parks (DPW&P) and its garage consulting engineer have determined that several structural connections have compromised the safety of the Pearl/Elm Garage.
In order to immediately address the required structural repairs that were planned in the ongoing renovations, it will be necessary to temporarily close the garage to the public from Saturday, August 18 through Sunday, August 26. The garage will re-open on Monday, August 27 at 6 a.m.
Before the repair work begins, the garage remains safe for parking this week.
During the closure, DPW&P will accommodate Pearl/Elm patrons at the Worcester Common Garage (3 Eaton Place) and the Federal Plaza Garage (570 Main Street).
The City of Worcester recognizes the inconvenience that this unplanned closure of the Pearl/Elm Garage creates with our customers but has determined it is necessary for the safety of the public.
