Worcester, MA (October 18, 2016) - The City of Worcester, Table Talk Pies and Chacharone Properties will host a groundbreaking ceremony this week to celebrate the start of construction of Table Talk's expansion to the South Worcester Industrial Park. City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. will also make an announcement regarding the future of SWIP.
SWIP involves the environmental remediation and demolition of blighted buildings and structures in Worcester's Main South neighborhood to create six, pad-ready development sites for private businesses. The City assembled approximately eight acres of the 11-acre project area.
The Table Talk project, to be developed by Chacharone Properties, consists of the construction of a 50,000 square foot, modern industrial building, which will allow the company to meet their expansion needs, retaining 30 workers and creating an additional 50 full-time jobs. Table Talk Pies is a family business that was established in 1924 by Mr. Theodore Tonna and Mr. Angelo Cotsidas, two Greek immigrants who came to America to build a better life for themselves and their families. The second generation, represented by Mr. Christo Cocaine, carried on the tradition of producing the highest quality pie possible and emphasizing customer service. Today, Table Talk Pies is one of the most widely recognized and experienced pie bakers in the world. The company is currently selling more than 2 million 4-inch snack pies per week and nearly 400,000 larger pies per week.
