Ground Breaking for Crompton Park Renovation, Oct. 29

The City of Worcester will host a ground breaking ceremony for renovations being made to Crompton Park on Tuesday, October 29 at 4:30 p.m. (47 Quinsigamond Avenue).

The $1.4 million renovation project will include:

• Two new concrete NBA-sized basketball courts (94x50) with perimeter chain link fencing and sports and security lighting
• New accessible porous pathways and paver plaza
• New accessible bleachers, benches, trash receptacles, bike rack, kiosks, tree plantings, pathway lighting and security/entrance pipe gates
• New ornamental fencing and wood guardrails along the perimeter of the park
• Security camera infrastructure (in anticipation of additional work)

This project will be funded by a City Council Tax Levy Appropriation as well as a $400,000 grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities (PARC) program.

The engineers/designers of record are Weston & Sampson of Worcester and the general contractor is M.J. Cataldo Inc. of Littleton.
