For Immediate Release: 7/3/2017 11:07 am
Worcester, MA (July 3, 2017) - Crompton Park Pool will be closed beginning Monday, July 3, due to the discovery of broken glass in and around the pool. All other areas of the park are unaffected and will remain open during normal operating hours.
As a reminder, glass containers are not permitted in the pool area.
To ensure the safety of swimmers, the pool will be drained, cleaned and inspected for additional shards of glass. The 100,000-plus gallon pool must then be refilled and have its chemicals rebalanced before it can re-open. The pool is expected to re-open later this week. An announcement will be made when the pool is safe for use.
In the meantime, two state-run pools in the City are open for the season - Veterans Memorial (Bennett Field) Swimming Pool at 1260 Main Street, and Dennis F. Shine Memorial Swimming Pool at 87 Providence Street. The city-run spray parks at Greenwood Street Park and East (Cristoforo Colombo) Park are open every day from noon to 7 p.m.
