The City of Worcester has released the following COVID-19 update for July 2:
• There are 5,247 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in the City of Worcester
• This represents an increase of 75 over last week, Thursday, June 25.
• Positive case counts in surrounding towns: Shrewsbury: 318 (increase of 1 from Thursday, June 25); Holden: 122 (increase of 2 from last week); Grafton: 95 (increase of 1 from Thursday, June 25); Leicester: 151 (no new cases since Thursday, June 25); Millbury: 250 (as of Wednesday, increase of 7 from Thursday, June 25).
• UMass Memorial Health Care on Wednesday, July 1 reported 27 total COVID-positive in-patients (decrease of 6 from Wednesday, June 24) and 8 total COVID-positive ICU patients (decrease of 2 from Wednesday, June 24). To date, as of Wednesday, July 1, UMass has had 265 COVID-related deaths (increase of 6 from Wednesday, June 24). A total of 295 of their employees have tested positive for the virus (increase of 4 from Wednesday, June 24).
• Saint Vincent Hospital on Tuesday, June 30 reported 1 COVID-positive patient (decrease of 6 from Tuesday, June 23) and 0 COVID-positive ICU patients (decrease of 5 from Tuesday, June 23. To date, as of Tuesday, June 30, Saint Vincent has had 75 COVID-related deaths (increase of 2 from Tuesday, June 23. As of Tuesday, June 30, a total of 71 of their employees have tested positive for the virus (no change from Tuesday, June 23).
• Senior Center Update: Number of seniors contacted to date: 12,716; Outreach phone calls made to seniors today: 83; Number of meals delivered in Worcester today: 1,427.
• The City is no longer holding weekly media briefings, but continues to monitor COVID numbers.
