Cooling Centers Open Thursday and Friday, Water Available

WORCESTER, Mass. – Due to a high heat index Thursday and Friday, the City of Worcester is activating several cooling centers for residents.
Below is a schedule of hours and locations. Each facility will have supplies of water on hand for distribution.

Thursday, Aug. 1

  • Worcester Public Library (Main Branch) – 3 Salem Square | 12 (noon) – 5:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Public Library (Frances Perkins Branch) – 470 West Boylston St. | 12 (noon) – 8:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Senior Center – 128 Providence St. | 12 (noon) – 4:30 p.m.
  • Worcester 311 Customer Service Center – 799 Main St. | 12 (noon) – 7 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 2

  • Worcester Public Library (Main Branch) – 3 Salem Square | 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Public Library (Frances Perkins Branch) – 470 West Boylston St. |10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Senior Center – 128 Providence St. | 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Worcester 311 Customer Service Center – 799 Main St. | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

City officials remind residents that prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity impact the body’s natural cooling systems and can lead to elevated body temperature and risk of illness.
