Worcester, MA (September 20, 2010) - Beginning in October, the City will become the first municipality in the Commonwealth to post its check register online, allowing the public to track how local tax dollars are spent and building upon ongoing steps toward greater transparency in government. The online check regsiter will be available at this website. Citizens will be able to search the register by vendor name, account type or check date range. Results will display a check number, date of check issuance, vendor name, amount and account description. Payment history will be displayed for 180 days.
This newly developed application will ultimately provide for greater transparency and accountability in government.
