Mayor Joseph M. Petty and City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. announced tonight, following the City Council meeting, that the City of Worcester will host a Worcester Red Sox celebration in conjunction with community partners.
The event will take place on the Worcester Common Oval on Monday, September 17 at 5 p.m. and is open to the general public with appearances by legends of the Boston Red Sox baseball club and players from the Pawtucket Red Sox. The event will be broadcast live on Charter TV3 (channel 193) and on the City of Worcester Government Channel (channel 192) as well as Unity Radio 102.9 FM.

Immediately following the ceremony on the Worcester Common Oval, the Canal District Alliance will hold a Block Party from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with food, games and entertainment for the whole family as well as a fireworks display at 7:30 p.m.
