WORCESTER - The public is invited to attend a Stop the Stigma Kickoff Event for Mental Health Awareness Month at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, in back of City Hall. The event is being organized by the Mayor’s Mental Health Taskforce, the Central Massachusetts affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the city of Worcester. Speakers will alert attendees of the stigma against those with mental illness and to the human damage that discrimination causes. Attendees will include mental health providers, city leaders, public health professionals, individuals with lived experiences, and loved one of individuals with lived experiences. The public will learn more about Mayor’s Mental Health Taskforce and the start of its long-term, multi-faceted campaign to reduce stigmas against those with mental illness.
