Electric Service Reconnections
There may be instances when electrical services have been torn away your home. Is your electrical service (the wire from the street or easement pole to your home) still connected to your home?
- Yes. We ask that you please be patient. Your service will be re-established as soon as possible.
- No, electrical service is not connected to my home, especially along the meter channel. Then, you may need to hire a licensed electrician to reconnect the service line to your home. He/she will have a better idea after he has inspected your property as to what this will actually entail. You should begin this process prior to power re-connection if at all possible.
- Any contractor you hire to make this repair is required to apply for a permit and have the work inspected. This may be done after power is restored. Permits may be applied for may be done at www.worcesterma.gov or in person at the Department of Inspectional Services at 25 Meade Street.
- If necessary you may also need to wait for crews to remove fallen trees or other debris that are blocking access to electrical service.
My electrician made the necessary repairs. Do I need a wiring inspection?
- Yes. Please ask you electrician to call Inspectional Services at (508) 799-8585 or (508) 929-1300 to request an inspection. An inspector will inspect the work as soon as possible however, due to special provisions setup under these emergency conditions, National Grid can turn on your power prior to the inspections.
