WORCESTER – The City of Worcester announced an incentive today for area residents to stay local and shop small this holiday season. In an effort to support the local business economy, the City will offer special discounted parking rates for upcoming community festivities. Parking will be free at select municipal lots and garages for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26, and a special rate of $1 will be in effect for the annual Festival of Lights Tree Lighting and Holiday Celebration, the Canal District Holiday Stroll and Tree Lighting, and stART at the Station the following weekend.
When Worcester residents shop local, they not only support the local business community, but an entire supply chain of local distributors. The City is full of independent retailers, artisans, makers, boutique grocers and more offering a wide variety of goods and services, along with many local entertainment attractions offering family-friendly fun throughout the year. Officials especially encourage residents to shop and celebrate locally this year in support of establishments still feeling the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
