For Immediate Release: 1/30/2022 10:03 am
WORCESTER – The City of Worcester lifted its travel ban as of 8 a.m. on Jan. 30. The declared parking ban will stay in place for the time being as Department of Public Works & Parks crews and contractors continue snow cleanup on Sunday.
The Worcester Public Library is closed today.
Cleanup crews are applying melting treatment and sand to the roads to ensure save travel. In addition, plows and snow removal equipment will continue work in areas where high winds have created snow drifts and blown snow into the streets. City officials remind the public not to shovel, snow blow, or plow snow into the roadways in the city.
The City also reminds residents that they have up to 10 hours from the end of a winter storm to clear the sidewalks abutting their property of any snow and ice. Residents who are able are also asked to clear snow around fire hydrants in their neighborhoods.
Municipal parking garages are free of charge until the declared winter parking ban is lifted. Absolutely no parking will be permitted on emergency routes and where prohibited during a declared ban. For questions, please call the DPW Customer Service Center at (508) 929-1300.
