For Immediate Release: 1/24/2021 7:10 pm
In the wake of this week’s announcement by the State of Massachusetts that vaccinations are now available for all eligible individuals under Phase One, the City of Worcester wishes to clarify who is eligible for the vaccines.
Phase 1 vaccinations are available only to COVID-facing clinical and non-clinical healthcare workers, long-term healthcare facilities, first responders, congregate care settings, home-based healthcare workers, and non-COVID-facing healthcare workers.
Following the vaccination phases established by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the state Department of Public Health, the City is only vaccinating individuals that are part of the Phase One priority groupings at the Worcester Senior Center. Any individuals falling under a category not included in Phase One, are not eligible until future phases are implemented by the State.
The City has fielded inquiries regarding the eligibility of senior citizens. Under the State’s COVID-19 rollout plan, adults aged 65-older currently will be eligible for vaccinations as part of Phase Two.
For complete information on the vaccination phases can be found at www.mass.gov/covid-19-vaccine. Eligible individuals can visit https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-vaccine-locations-for-individuals-currently-eligible-to-be-vaccinated to find the appropriate location and make an appointment.
Those individuals who are currently eligible for vaccines are reminded that proof of employment is required when arriving for an appointment.
