Worcester, MA (June 10, 2015) - Mayor Joseph Petty and City Manager Edward Augustus today officially launched two programs aimed at keeping city youths active and engaged this summer - Recreation Worcester and the Summer Youth Corps jobs program.
"Recreation Worcester will create a sense of density and community in our public spaces. But further, this will give these children a sense of ownership; that these parks belong to them as much as anyone else," Mayor Petty said. "And the Summer Youth Corp is going to do the same thing for our teenagers and young adults, giving them a chance to earn valuable work experience and to feel a sense of ownership over their neighborhoods and their City."
"These programs demonstrate the City's commitment to its young people and to keeping them active, engaged and employed throughout the summer months," City Manager Augustus said.
