The Broomball 2018 competition will be held on Friday, Jan. 19 at 4 p.m. at the Worcester Common Oval Public Ice Skating Rink. The Oval will be open for public ice skating from 5 to 8 p.m.
Broomball is ice hockey without skates using a ball and brooms instead of a puck and hockey sticks. The first match pits City Hall vs. the press which will be followed by the Worcester Police Department vs. the Worcester Fire Department. The two winning teams will then play for the championship. Spectators are welcome to attend this free event which will include a heated beer tent featuring Flying Dreams Brewery.
Admission for skating is $10, and free for children six and younger. Bring your own skates and receive $5 off the admission price. A refundable $25 cash or credit card deposit is required for skate rentals.
