Worcester, MA (November 9, 2016) - On the eve of Veterans' Day, the City of Worcester on Thursday will honor one of its most decorated veterans with a ceremony to rededicate the newly-restored Lieutenant John Vincent Power Memorial.
The City allocated $10,000 to restore the monument, which stands on the Franklin Street side of City Hall. The restoration will be commemorated with a wreath-laying ceremony including members of Power's family and local officials.

Worcester native and Holy Cross graduate John Vincent Power was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for "conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty" during the Battle of Namur Island, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands during World War II.
