WORCESTER – Worcester residents and groups are encouraged to apply for Spring Beautification Grants to be used to benefit the council districts.
Each district councilor will award up to $5,000 for outdoor projects that will beautify the city’s neighborhoods.
Projects may include, but are not limited to, playground beautification, Earth Day cleanups, transforming traffic islands, building a garden, and more. Eligible purchases may include refreshments, landscape materials, plants, tools, and supplies.
Neighborhood Associations, Business Associations, Crime Watch Groups, and others are encouraged to apply either individually or as a group. Organization of volunteers and participants is the responsibility of the neighborhood group applying.
Applications will be scored based on several aspects: having enough volunteers and good communication within the neighborhood to make the event successful; demonstration that the neighborhood is committed and motivated; and, most importantly, that the project enhances and improves the quality of life for residents who live in, work in, or visit the community.
The deadline to apply is April 12. Applications can be found at worcesterma.gov.
