Approval of the Minutes

Order - That the City Council Standing Committee of Public Works hereby approves the minutes of the Public Works Committee meeting on January 13, 2021.

Street Name Change Items

Petition of Craig Blais, President of New Garden Park, Inc., request the name of Hospital Dr., an existing roadway with direct access to Belmont St., be renamed Reactory Dr. # 8b CC September 22, 2020

Chairperson Councilor Russell read the item and recognized the Assistant Commissioner of Public Works Committee, who provided a recommendation of no objection to the item.

Chairperson Councilor Russell recognized Councilor Mero-Carlson and Councilor Wally, who both spoke in favor of the item to allow for better marketing of the area for bio-manufacturing companies.

Chairperson Councilor Russell moved for a roll call vote to recommend the item be approved.

Recommend Approval on a roll call vote of 3 Yeas and 0 Nays

3b.

Report of the Planning Board Upon the Petition of Michael J. Grandone request Brightwood Ave. be renamed to Brightwood St., so as to avoid confusion with Blithewood Ave. # 13a CC January 5, 2021

Chairperson Councilor Russell brought forth the following Chairman’s Order: Request City Manager install signage on any street that has a name change indicating that the street was formerly known as another name for a minimum period of one year.

Chairperson Councilor Russell moved for a roll call vote to recommend the item be approved.

Recommend Approval on a roll call vote of 3 Yeas and 0 Nays

Chairman's Orders

Request City Manager request Commissioner of Public Works and Parks install signage on any street that has a name change indicating that the street was formerly known as another name for a minimum period of one year.

Report of the Planning Board Upon the Petition Anne Baier request the road abutting 434 Plantation St. to 514 Plantation St. known as Wigwam Hill Dr. and Unnamed Rd. be renamed Espresso Dr. # 10g CC January 19, 2021

Chairperson Councilor Russell read the item and recognized the Assistant Commissioner of Public Works and Parks, who provided a recommendation to file the item.

Chairperson Councilor Russell discussed the process for making the unnamed road a street on the city’s official map, including information concerning the standards required for making a street a public street with the Assistant Commissioner of Public Works and Parks.

Chairperson Councilor Russell recognized Councilor Mero-Carlson, who discussed potential signage associated that could be installed at the location with the Assistant Commissioner of Public Works and Parks.

Chairperson Councilor Russell brought forth the following Chairman’s Order: Request City Manager request Commissioner of Public Works and Parks work with the District Councilor to review potential signage that could be installed at the base of the unnamed road that runs near Plantation St. and Wigwam Hill Rd. to help identify the houses on said road.

Chairperson Councilor Russell moved for a roll call vote to recommend the item be placed on file.
