1. Order of Councillors Haller, Lukes and Gomez – Request City Council proceed forthwith with the selection of a permanent City Manager by initiating and completing a process for said selection to include the appointment of an Ad Hoc Committee, including in the composition of said Ad Hoc Committee, Councillors on both sides of the issue of the City Manager’s resignation; the purpose of the committee being to determine the following:
1) Term of Acting City Manager (petitioners suggest 6 months)
2) A timetable to complete the selection of a permanent City Manager. (Petitioners suggest that the process be completed within the 6 month period of the term of the Acting City Manager)
3) The inclusion of the following procedures:
a. Review of the prior process of the selection of a City Manager in 1994 and report to City Council regarding a timetable for the following steps:
1. Placement of an RFP for search firm
2. City Council review of responses to RFP; selection of a search firm and entering into a contract with the search firm. City Council at that time provide the search firm with copy of specifications/job description for the permanent City Manager
3. City Council review the list of candidates for permanent City Manager position provided by the search firm and selection of finalists for interviews.
4. City Council interview its list of the finalists for the position of City Manager. The process for review shall include a community input segment.
5. City Council votes for the candidate of its choice and enters into negotiations for a contract.
4) Acting City Manager can apply for the position of permanent City Manager.

a listing of search firms with experience in the field of public sector
nationwide personnel search.

provide the City Council with updated statistics concerning salaries paid to
City Managers in cities of comparable size to Worcester.
