FROM THE COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - Request City Manager add language to the agreement between the City of Worcester and Vision Development for rehabilitation of 8 Grafton Street to stipulate that the developer agrees to a decrease in the amount of the HDIP equal to a corresponding amount of additional federal and state historic tax credits anticipated.

Councilor Rushton moved to amend to change the wording after the word "agrees" to as follows: that any allocation of state tax credits (combined HDIP and Historic credits) received in excess of $6.2 million will result in an amount equal to 75% of the allocation being returned to the City by a reduction in the exemption of the local real estate taxes. Additionally, the exemption agreement will be dropped from 80% over ten years to 70% over ten years. Order adopted as amended

 

10b.

FROM THE COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - Request City Manager add language to the agreement between the City of Worcester and Vision Development for rehabilitation of 8 Grafton Street to restrict the sale in whole or in part to a non-profit entity who might qualify for a request to have exempted that portion of the property covered by HDIP from paying real estate taxes in years five through ten of the HDIP.

Bean's management division at its flagship store in Freeport, Maine to let them know that downtown Worcester (or other areas of the city) would be a terrific place for one of the 80 new retail stores that they plan to open in yet-to-be determined cities during the next 5 years.
