FROM THE COMMITTEE ON TRAFFIC AND PARKING - Request City Manager request Police Chief provide speed enforcement on Dorothy Ave.

Request City Manager consider working with the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the Canal District and other organizations to make a pitch for the PawSox, the Boston Red Sox Triple A affiliate, or for another Major League Baseball-affiliated team that is seeking to re-locate. Request City Manager immediately classify as taxable property by the City Assessor the two parcels of land owned by Holy Cross College at 804 and 852 Southbridge St., on which the city hasn't collected taxes for 15 years, and the appropriate property taxes be collected from the owner. These long-time vacant but developable parcels do not qualify as tax exempt properties because they are not being occupied for charitable use and, therefore, are not an integral part of the college's operations. Request City Manager consider having decorative lighting on all the trees on the median strip on Shrewsbury St. throughout the year and include an electrical infrastructure if needed to achieve this. (Palmieri)

Request City Manager communicate with Charter Communications regarding how the FCC's new net neutrality Regulations will impact on programming and costs to the Worcester ratepayers. (Lukes)

Request City Manager consider instructing administrative staff communicate in-person well in advance of offering for sale to "investors" a Collectors Deed or Assignment in order to educate property owners as to their rights and responsibilities and to also offer referral information for independent legal advice. (Russell)

This program would allow local law enforcement agencies to recruit, select, train and deploy volunteers to write citations for vehicles illegally parked in spaces designated by law for the handicapped. Handicap Parking Monitors would work directly for assistant volunteer site supervisors assigned to various area commands. Minimum requirements: 1) at least 21 years of age, 2) possess a valid MA drivers license or MA ID card and 3) meet any other requirements that might be established by the appropriate law enforcement agency: recommend Petition be placed on file.
