On January 15th 2022 at about 2:47 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the Big Y parking lot at 100 Mayfield St for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a seventeen-year-old female gunshot victim. Officers assisted the victim medically until an ambulance arrived and transported her to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 3:23 AM. The Crime Scene Unit and Detective Bureau secured the crime scene and began the follow-up investigation. The incident does not appear to be random in nature.
